The school provides an environment where deaf and hard of hearing students can learn and use American Sign Language (ASL) as their everyday language. Without support these students would be forced into regular public schools where there is not enough funding to support interpreters. To accomplish this the content threads highlight AD&P’s understanding of the interconnectedness of this industry across design, technology and engineering. The challenge of the project was to create a unique “space” and experience specific to print. Capitalize on the rich history of print - the essence of which is to simply tell a story. Reading requires more thought, imagination and interpretation than TV or web and the experience is more intimate, personal and portable.
